With multiple furnaces capable of producing different grades of Ferro Chrome and captive mines at Sukinda, BAL holds a unique competitive advantage in a market where chrome ore availability and pricing remain volatile.
The Need
BAL’s existing SAP ECC system was nearing its license expiry on 31st December 2023. To ensure business continuity, the company needed a Greenfield implementation of RISE with SAP, with a strict go-live date of 1st January 2024.
Key objectives included:
- Migrating from ECC to RISE with SAP within the tight timeline.
- Adopting SAP standard processes and best practices, minimizing customization.
- Maximizing the utilization of bundled RISE with SAP features.
- Reviewing ECC ABAP programs and eliminating redundant ones.

The Solution
BAL executed a Greenfield RISE with SAP implementation covering end-to-end business operations:

FI, CO, MM, SD, PP, QM, PM, PS, HCM, ABAP, BASIS, Roles & Authorization.
SAP Standard Processes:
Streamlined workflows with minimal manual intervention.
Data Migration:
Used SAP’s LTMC tool for HANA to migrate only cleaned and relevant master data, while transactional data from ECC was not migrated.
FIORI Enablement:
Delivered a modern, intuitive user interface for improved usability.
Change Management:
Although initial user participation was low, post go-live training and issue resolution helped employees learn by doing and gain confidence.
